BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) — China has seen rapid growth in its installed renewable energy capacity in the first four months of the year, as the country strives to meet its renewable energy targets. capping carbon emissions and carbon neutrality.

During the January-April period, wind power capacity increased 17.7% year-on-year to around 340 million kilowatts, while solar power capacity was 320 million. kilowatts, an increase of 23.6%, according to the National Energy Administration.

At the end of April, the country’s total installed power generation capacity was about 2.41 billion kilowatts, up 7.9 percent year-on-year, the data showed.

China has announced that it will strive to cap its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

The country is moving forward in the development of renewable energies to improve its energy structure. According to an action plan published last year, this aims to increase the share of consumption of non-fossil energies to around 25% by 2030.
